Rental agreement

Hi

I'd like to know if I can make a rental agreement starting from August 2020, in January 2021. Would that be acceptable/valid for claiming HRA?

Yes, Rent note/ Rent agreement can be executed today with retrospective effect I.e starting from August 2020 and the agreement would have perfect legal value / validity in eye of law.

Yes. Rent agreement i.e. lease deed can execute in the month of January, 2021, and in the terms, you shall mention the period of lease/rent agreement as " the lease period is....... years from 01-08-2020 to 31-07-xxxx.
