Convertion from residential to commercial use

(Querist) 13 October 2013 This query is : Resolved
dear sir

My father property is a ground plus two floor building. we are 3 children and he has given us settlement deeds for each floor ( one floor to each child ). Now I want to convert the ground floor from residential use to commercial use . Is the consent of others needed for the change ? can they go to court and prevent me from making the change. Please advice

If the commercial coneversion does not cause any hindrance to peaceful occupation by other members, then you can safely go ahead.

If you apprehend that your conversion will cause disturbance in their use of portion they occupy then you should seek their permission.

Contact to local lawyer

Yeah! you need consent letter from your siblings. Also, if your local authorities(Municipal_) etc prohibit such conversions, I mean from turning a residential property in to commercial property you require such local authorities permission also. Please press the Thank you button on my profile if you wish to thank me for this reply.

Better take permission now to prevent future disputes. If any permission from local body is needed than take the same also.

Well advised by experts so no more to add.
