Correction of birth certificate

hi all
my name is nowfal rizwan.i was born in karur. on registering my birth, my mothers name is ariba but letter "b" is misunderstood and written wrongly as "f". that is "ariba" written as "arifa".similarly my name "nowfal rizwan" is mis-spelled and written as "nowful riswan".all my records give my mothers name and mine correctly as "nowfal rizwan" and my mothers name correctly as "ariba".also the immediate certificate of birth issued before naming myself has correct name of my mom as "ariba" .now i need to apply for my passport.what is the procedure to make these corrections, where & whom to approach and what is the supporting documents required ???plzz help me.. iam presently in vellore for studies and have tight schedules for travel.plz help me...

You need to apply to local SDN to direct the Registrar of Birth and Death to correct the spelling mistake and if permission is granted then get it done.
