Credit card charges

(Querist) 15 January 2014 This query is : Resolved
The last date of my credit card dues is 29-07-2013 and I remitted the payment on same date through online banking and In next statement It was clearly shown that on 29.07.2013 online payment received. Beside this the bank levy the late fine including interest, can bank do so?

The complaint is lodged to customer care executive but they give me wrong complaint number. I sent email to customer care of standard chartered bank and head of services but head of services replied that the charges can not be reversed.

No, it can not. Ask the bank to reverse such charges. If it refuses to do so then you can think of going to consumer forum.

In your case bank has no right to levy late fine and interest. You tookup your matter with bank for reverse of fine and interest and on refusal you can approach consumer forum.

Credit card is the grave area of complaints. Lodge complaint to Bank, RBI. Banking ombudsman. If the Bank is not adhering, file case either in Consumer forum or Lok Adalat (Public Utility Service) if exists in your distt.

Create a record by writing to the bank mentioning your grievances and ask the authority to redress the same or else, you may inform that you will find no alternative than to find a legal recourse on the subject, you are certain to get reply/relief.
Kumar Doab (Expert) 15 January 2014
Transact preferably in writing under proper acknowledgement and demand a written reply by redg. post.

If you make a call record it and do not forget to obtain complaint number.
Based on the response of the bank proceed further.

A CC customer should not spare such an opportunity of merits for record and future reference.
