Defaming ,nuisance and harassing

sir ,
a person clains to hv given me certain amount of money.but the fact is he hasnt given me any cash and against the cheque amount i have given him cash in return..ie. the deal is closed.now he and his wife is constantly harassing and defaming us everywhere that i am not givin their money back.
there is no documentary evidence with him to prove his claim.On the other hand i have all relevant documents to show that the transaction is closed
1.what can i do if he constantly calls and harass me again & again or defames me?
2.is it not a means to illegally extort money by defaming a reputed person?

against him in PS of ur area.

it is called private complaint.file all relavant documents with it.

This is not a matter of police cognizance. Serve a legal notice through a lawyer and then file a defamation complaint before the local criminal court.
