Sir, I am presently posted in Customs Commissionerate, Ahmedabad as an inspector of Central Excise & Customs.Previously, I was working as an Inspector of Central excise in same department but in Kerala.I had completed 2 years probation period and got confirmation in Kerala. I joined in Ahmedabad after submitting technical resignation in Kerala on selection for the above post through open competitive exam conducted by SSC.
Shall i have to appear again for departmental Examination for confirmation ?

The only principle forthcoming to decide the issue is that confirmation dates back to the date of appointment. Hence it could be taken that confirmation holds good in the Department. However, the alternate view is equally possible since the queriest got the present appointment through a subsequent competitive examination, esp. if the appointment order for the present post has prescribed probation. He may bring the position to the notice of the administration and request to be exempted. Simultneously, he prepare for the departmental examination. Anyhow, nothing is lost by appearing in one more examination.
