Divorce Certificate

(Querist) 15 March 2018 This query is : Resolved
Hi. I'm from Mumbai. I got divorced two years back. I want to know if I can apply for a Divorce Certificate online. If not, how do I go about it? I have the final decree from the court. Am not in touch with my lawyer so I'd like to do this myself. Please advise. Thanks!

In India there is no such thing as Divorce Certificate, you get Decree of Divorce from the court along with Order/Judgment of the court granting divorce to the parties. You can apply for certified copied of all these three, order/judgment and decree of divorce from the Copying Branch of the District Court/Family Court where the divorce petition decided. There is no need of any advocate as you simply file in the prescribed application form for the certified copies where party details, name of the judge/court which decided the petition and on the date when it was decided has to be mentioned along with the details of the applicant .i.e. yourself. You pay the fee for the same that will be informed by the copying branch clerk. You can apply for as many set of these certified copies as you want after paying the fees for these.

Apply to concerned court for a certified copy of the statements of parties and judgment, which you can submit by post as per rules for payment.
