In Tuticorin District, one village panchayat president has issued eviction notice to evict the villagers from their residence.Kindly clarify whether the village panchayat president is having such power to issue eviction notice.Normally Tahsildar is the competent authority to issue such an eviction notice.Pl.clarify with reference to the provisions of the Panchayat Act

Panchayat has got right under section 7 of VCL Act to issue such notices to encroachers and if such person do not vacate the encroachment then Panchayat may file a petition before Tehsildar seekingg eviction.

The tenancy can also be ended by Panchayat by passing a resolution.

Every owner has right to issue eviction notice to others if they are residing without any authority under law.
