As an advocate, I hope you can well understand that legal implication of any term depends upon the characteristics of the case. Any term does not have a single meaning.

So, you could have discussed the real problem instead of asking for an academic nature of query.

However, in general, the term genealogy can be used both for ancestors as well as descendants, where pedigree can be used for family background, history or ancestry. These terms have other meaning also.

So the exact meaning depends upon the nature and background ofyour case.
