Dear Experts,
I have been allotted election duty as presiding Officer but the training dates coincide with the estimated delivery date for my wife. Can i get exemption and how to proceed for that?

Exemption can be sought on application with valid reason. Of course, yours seems to be quite a valid reason for exemption.
So, send your application for formal exemption to the Election Commission through proper channel, i.e., through your controlling officers.

Submit your application ( under proepr acknowledgment) and attach Dr's Rx/certificate per rules, showing tentative date of delivery and request.
Remain gentle and amiable.

Application through deptt may not reach in time. You will have to personally meet the DM or the concerned SDM with application. Mere orders of the DM/SDM will not be sufficient. You will have to ensure that your name is deleted from computer record and none omits the same.

for every election, there will be Returning Officers for each taluk/constitution. so you have to submit the application to the R.O. with Medical certificate through the Election Tahsildar. He may consider it.

I repeat. Mere giving application will not suffice. You have ot be present before the authority, get his order, get your name deleted from the computer.

During elections the authorities are usually flooded with requests with excuses.
Submit your request substantiated with documents and pursue.
