Regarding RTI Act

Can an Application seeking information under RTI act be returned on the grounds that it has not been signed by the applicant??

Actuall I had filed such an application with only my name and address (No Signature) and the reply reads:

"Your application dated 09 jul 2010 received in this office on 13 jul 2010 is returned herewith as the same has not been signed by you."

Please guide me since this reply could be used against the dept. and my service could be reinstated..

An application under RTI Act or for that matter any application has to be signed by the applicant and unless it is signed, it is liable to be returned. But I do not understand its relevance to reinstatement of service.

File the application again with proper Signature. How could U be so careless when the stakes are so high?
