Whenever you file a complaint for a cognizable offence and it is registered you are entitled to a copy of the FiR free of costs as of right. However, when it is not registered as FIR immediately, then you are entitled to get acknowledgement of the complaint. If police authorities avoid to give acknowledgement, make a complaint to higher authorities and also send the complaint by RPAD.

You make a complaint on the attitude of the police station to the SP/DCP.
