What is the meaning of receipt of payment of the state duty (on the basis of a court decision)require for registration of divorce?Is registration of divorce obligatory in our country?
Information is required in connection with divorce of a person staying in Kerala.

No registration of divorce required.

211th Report of the Law Commission of India
has considered the matter of registration of divorce AND Law Commission has recommended enactment of a
“Marriage and Divorce Registration Act” to be made applicable in the whole of India and
to all citizens irrespective of their religion and personal law and without any exceptions
or exemptions.
The proposed law should deal only with registration but no law has been legislated so far.

Presently a decree of divorce by court is sufficient to prove divorce as per existing laws.

However there are laws in some states to register Muslim and Parsi divorces but they are almost dormant.

There is no requirement of the registration of the decree of divorce.
