Property inheritance

(Querist) 04 July 2017 This query is : Resolved
My father expired in 1982. He had a paternal property (site) in Bangalore. Since I was only 10 years old then, my sister got the khatha transferred in her name and availed housing loan and built a house in this site. Now she too expired. She is survived by her husband, a son (married) and an unmarried daughter. I too am married now and have a son. Am i entitled to my father's paternal property. If so what should be my next course of action?

Succession opens on date of death.
Obtain mutation records with all link docs and find out on basis of which valid document/deed the entire property was transferred in the name of one daughter only.
If it was say: valid WILL and it was duly acted upon and property was self acquired in the hands of owner then there might not be any error in transfer in the name of your sister.

What exactly do you mean by father's parental property; it is ancestral?

Who was 1st owner of the property?
