PIL on IPL matches

(Querist) 14 April 2010 This query is : Resolved
Recently Supreme Court has dismissed a PIL petition filed on account of wastage of electricity due to floodlit cricket matches and advised the petitioner that because of day matches 60000 spectators are bunking the offices to watch matches causing much more loss and damage to the state. I want experts to throw light on the case and post opinion on this Judgement.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 14 April 2010
The viewing and commenting over cricket which is a game of memory of the days of pre independence is a wasteful matter either it may be a day or night.
Parthasarathi Loganathan (Querist) 14 April 2010
However, on the legal perspective whether it is fair on the part of Supreme Court to take such decisions on importance issues related to Energy conservation, etc. Recently IPL auction has exposed many facts where Cricket is now a business swindling the public money in broad daylight for the vested interests of many Capitalists in the country. Experts to comment on the Supreme Court's decision on the matter
niranjan (Expert) 14 April 2010
I think lawyers cannot pass 'comments 'on the verdicts of our parent bodies.

Niranjanji, yes we should respect its findings but its always open for discussion and its our moral duty being an advocate...we should discuss yaar....
SC is right in rejecting the claim, i think....

Hon'ble SC has given right decision.....

I don't want to comment on it.
Parthasarathi Loganathan (Querist) 14 April 2010
We are here to respect all the decisions of our Apex court
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 14 April 2010
If we are here to respect all the decisions of SC then why to start this topic?
Parthasarathi Loganathan (Querist) 15 April 2010
By starting a thread on a Judgement does not construe that we disrespect the apex court. This healthy forum always enables us to enrich our knowledge through debating skills extracting the best out of practicing and non-practicing lawyers to get exposed to multifarious legal issues. Makkadji must be aware of this logic very well
