Date of birth for passport application

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 07 April 2011 This query is : Resolved
I need to apply for a passport for my mother who is 66 years old. She attended high school in Kerala about 50 years ago. She had misplaced her school documents long ago and never took any action because it was not required. When we went to her old school to get a copy of her records, they say the old records are in a very bad state & they cannot access it. We are told as an alternative - apply for an illiterate certificate & use thumb impression. My mother is literate & has been using her signature in all her bank & other documents. Rather than claim to be illiterate is there any other way we can provide a date-of-birth for passport application. She has a PAN card, ration card, bank statements and my late father was a military officer. Any help or guidance will be really appreciated.

you will get birth date certificate in tahashil office of the area of your moms birth place.those offices keep the records of birth certificate forever.if you are saying that your father was military officer the in pension paper file you will find the birth date proof of your mother.be in touch.

Since your mother is a defence pensioner All details can be checked up with the Army Records through your local Zila Sainik Board.
