(Querist) 13 May 2011 This query is : Resolved
The present Land Acquisition Act (LAA in short) is out dated and it anti-people. We have scrap this Act and bring a new Law. Any suggestions ? Adv. A. B. Rajeev, Calicut, Kerala

As a single person its not possible that much easily by you.. Even with in my knowledge i have an idea. You can form a group of peoples for support your thoughts. View may layman or advocates. Then you may send a representation through by your state bar counsil to your legislative assembly. The majority of peoples support your bil mean its will get amendment.

One another way is, if your legislatie assembly didn't consider about your representation mean you may file a public interest litigation before your high court. If your high court satisfied mean its will pass order to consider your representation. May try it. But unity is important.

As already stated in similar type of discussionable question, I had opined that present LAA is no only outdated but it reminds us that we have not attained independance as on date because 'black rulers' can acquire the valuable land of an owner possessing it since since its decades in the name of so-called public interest in the arbitrary manner and then can get black money in multiplication from builders and industrial houses. This has become a fashion of all rulers in India and no any State is its exception what to talk of UP or Haryana.

The best way to get the law modified is to press the respective elected representatives to compel the respective Government to change the law to accommodate the provision to pay value of the acquired land on some criteria of the prevaling cost of land in the adjoining areas.
