what is the minimum period of service for an employee to claim epf membership?if we employ some persons for repair works for two months and enroll them in ESI,are they eligible for epf or is the company liable to pay their pf contribution even after period of work is over.pls answer citing relevent provisions

company is liable for contribution for pf only for 2 months, if two conditions are satisfied:- 1.in establishment more than 20 employee and 2.salary is less than rs.6500.

I totally diagree with Mr M Sheikh Mohd Ali. He has confused PF and gratuity. If the conditions stated by Mr Shailesh Shah are met you are liable to deposit PF even if you employ him for one day.

If any person has worked for even a single day except casual worker/adhoc worker, PF liability of employer which is covered under EPF & MP Act, 1952, starts from the same day of working of such workman.

mr.sudhir &raj kumar gave the correct opinion ,i think.but casual and adhoc workers including apprentice have also been brought under pf&mp act .

An employee has to enroll for PF from day one of his service.

yes.dhingra sir and shailesh were also apt and precise in their valueable opinion..lot of thanks...pf being a social security measure is less prone to legislative alterations...its ambit is getting widened day by day..

Answer:All the employees (including casual, part time, Daily wage contract etc.) other then an excluded employee are required to be enrolled as members of the fund.
