How to know 498a status ?

I am a divorcee boy planning to marry a divorcee girl. I came to know from the lady that her ex husband used to torture her. But it took them almost 5 years to get divorced by mutual consent that was filed just half year back. this makes me suspicious that she might have filed a 498a and later gave a mutual divorce by exchanging money which is why it took long. So kindly answer my questions -
what is the quickest and safest way to find out whether she is a 498a girl ? asking her directly may not work as she may makeup some story if she had given some concocted tale in the past.

Mutual consent divorce require and implies to finish all pending cases where both husband and wife have to give a statement on oath before the Court.
If any thing/case or claim is pending that shall be deemed to be done away and/or can be quashed, however, you will have no option but to ask the lady (whom you intend to marry) but the base of marriage is faith and belief and not suspecion as found from your statement hereinabove.

you can get case no. and check case status on the court, after that finalize your life.

I am afraid - There is no centralised database of 498A girls. But what you can do is hunt up the girl's city court websites - which you can find at: http://indiancourts.nic.in/
Once you get to her state district as well as high courts - go to case status - enter her or her ex husband's name - and see if you can find something.

forget abt digging up her 498 complaint.
It cannot be ur problem
if u want to marry her, who is divorcee, do it.

I would suggest that you can get the case no of MCD and her contested divorce case no. Go and check the files, then only you would come to know the truth.

Get a copy of the MCD from her from where you can find out if there was any 498A case filed & withdrawn. But what is the use. Once a 498A girl may not always be a 498A girl. Similarly a non 498A girl may not always remain a non 498A girl.
Moreover, starting lives afresh with distrust and fear may not yield desirable results.

case no of MCD and her contested divorce case no. - wont these 2 be the same or whether these 2 could be different ?
Is it mandatory that the divorce plea will contain some reference to a criminal complaint if any ?
is a divorce possible when a 498a case is ongoing ?

call up her ex husband . inform him that you are marrying his ex wife . he will spill the beans if it was 498 A case

ajayji thanks after some research i think i found the information i was looking for. apparently someone has hosted a database with names of such cases.
