hello Experts
I am shalini working as a software engineer got married 1 and half year back. After just 2-3 months of my marrige i found my husband and his parents are totally money minded later becaz of daily disputes I left the matrmonial house.
As I was harrased by my husband and his parents i put 498A case.
After engagement my father has given 220000 rs. through cheque to my father in law as dowry.
My Questions;
1. Is it sufficient to prove that dowry was demanded and same has been given.
2. What could be the reply of my husband in this regard in the court.

yes, you can produced that cheque amount also one of supporting evidence, you just make a complaint against them. either domestic violence act or IPC498a

under THE DOWRY PROHIBITION ACT, 1961 (section - 3. Penalty for giving or taking dowry. ? [5] [(1) If any person, after the commencement of this Act, gives or takes or abets the giving or taking of dowry, he shall be punishable [6] [with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than [7] [five years, and with fine which shall not be less than fifteen thousnad rupees or the amount of the value of such dowry, whichever is more?].) dowry demanding and receiving is crime. your husband may say since you are accepting the fact for giving dowry you and your family should also be prosecuted.

My lawyer also told the same thing what Rajenndra Sir is telling, to avoid any kind of prosecution my lawyer suggested to state that the boy side threaten to cancel the marriage if the agreed amount is not paid before the marriage.
Any Amount paid in a fear to cancel the marriage will help us to dispose of all the allegation from boy side.
Is it Correct?

You are engineer and can do some thing useful to entire mankind so that they can live with more comfort for generations.
Just forget them.
