False recovery demanded by ex employer

(Querist) 11 June 2013 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir
My company is threatning me to go to court and file a case for recovery of arround 8.5 lakh which includes notice period amount, loss of business due to my non serving of notice period, abroad visit, lawyers fee and court expenses. I am ready to pay the notice period amount as per my acceptence of appointment letter which clearly states that incase employee leaves the services he can pay the salary of 3 months/serve for 3 months to employer.
They have sent me a legal notice saying that I should pay 8.5 lakhs. In return I have sent a reply that I am ready to pay the notice period but for other expenses I have never signed any bond/agreement which states that I am bounded to stay with the employer for some defined period.
Now they are not replying anything and are about to file a case aginst me. Please kindly guide me what kind of case it would be. Whether they can put some other false allegation.
And Incase they go to court how can I defend myself. I live at some other place and Is it possible that my lawyer will handle the things on my behalf, so that my work life will not get ruined due to all this.

Please consult a lawyer practicing in labour law matters for the employees and proceed accordingly.
