If both the spouses are earning equally is the wife eligible for claiming maintenance for the child ?

husband cannot wash his hands of his responsibility as father for maintenance of the child . wife can claim maintenance for the child

yes but for not whole expenses of the child but half or part of it.

Husband has the primary responsibility to maintain the child so the mother of the child can demand maintenance for her child from her husband.

thanks for the guidance. I was also of such an opinion by going through the older posts. but my lawyer says clearly that i cant claim maintenance for the child as i am earning myself . Is this a very common thing that my lawyer is missing. Does this mean that i should change the lawyer ?

dont be too judgmental . tell your lawyer to claim maintenance and accept whatever orders court passes
