Academic query! However, for your information, if any act provides for any standard that becomes mandatory to follow.

Sir,
i don't have any special books of company law 2013 that's why m asking it because as u know that there are10 secretarial standards but m confuse is it compulsory to apply all to any company? and academic query is also a query

yes.i checked from ICSI website.(am a member in icsi).the need for secr. stndrds was explained by icsi as follows.
"Companies follow diverse secretarial practices and, therefore, there is a need to integrate, harmonise and standardize such practices so as to promote uniformity and consistency.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, acknowledging this need has issued ten Secretarial Standards on topics namely...."
no where was it stated that these standards are mandatory.
if one may recollect CA institute(am a member ICAI) also prescribed such accounting standrds LONG BACK. but till such standrds were integrated and become part of the companies act 1956, (now 2013 act),such stndrds were only recemmendatory in nature. members in industry/practice were not incorporating them in very initial stages. but the picture changed only after amendment in companies act which made them compulsory.
so i conclude to say any stndrds prescribed by any professional body like icsi or icai/icwai are only recommendatory till the co's act makes them mandatory by making them part and parcel of the co's act.
icsi in the best interest of the profession recommended these standards.very good for any C.S in industry or practice. but they r not mandatory as of now.
