Hi,
1. Do we have to buy a stamp paper for Affidavit or can it be on plan paper and then notarised by a notary? I heard people saying it has to be Rs 20 stamp paper or higher. Pls clarify.
2. Is an advocate's signature required in an affidavit. Or can it be just the deponent and the notary?

In Mah State , it is Rs. 100/- stamp paper.
Plain paper need to be franking in Bank for payment of requisite stamp duty [ it changes state to state]
No need of Advocate, if you have valid Photo ID/ Passport, and you affirm before Notary Public.

Stamp fee differ from State to State. In Haryana it is Rs. 10/-.
You can purchase stamp paper or get a plain paper stamped.
Agree, if you have identity proof, no need of Advocate signature.

The procedure and the value differs from one state to another. An advocate will be able to identify the deponent, but it is not mandatory.
