construction of house

Sir/madam, i want to built a house at rural area but i don't know from whom permission for building of house to be taken. Gram sevak don't allow to built a house and ask me to take permission from collector but as per my knowledge permission from gram panchyat is sufficient. Please help me.

If no guidance provided, use RTI to know the sanctioning authority and powers of gram sevak.

There is no need to obtain permission from any authority if the construction of the houe is made within Lal dora of village.

Generally the Village president or village authority needs to sanction permission for construction, but as experts suggested, it varies from one state to another, so better approach the village president directly and then proceed if suggested otherwise.
