Hi,
I own a house in nallasopara west... and I want this house in my Dad's name now..however jus bought the home and don't have money to do the registration again and heard that daughter cant directly transfer the house it has to be a proper registration... also heard abt making a gift deed.. can you tell me how much it would cost and if there is any other way of dealing with this
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 20 June 2014
Without payment of stamp duty you can not transfer the property.
However if you are unmarried daughter and gift the property to your father then stamp duty is very minimal.

Pay the stamp duty and donate the property, no escape
malipeddi jaggarao (Expert) 20 June 2014
Transfer of immovable property is only through registered deeds. These deeds can be Registered sale deeds which attract advolerum stamp duty (% basis on the value of property as the schedule of Stamp Duty Act in the concerned State) or by Registered gift Deed for which the stamp duty is nominal.

when you wish to gift the house to your father, there is no way except to pay the stamp duty on either of the ways.

you have to pay stamp duty on gift deed . have it duly registered
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 20 June 2014
In some state the stamp fee is almost equal to sale deed, please compare in your state. Registered sale deed / gift deed is the procedure to transfer the immovable property.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 23 June 2014
Properly advised by all experts, any transfer deed without registration will be invalid in the eyes of law.
