Preparing a will

A person having share of profit in 2 partnership firms wants to prepare a will in favor of his Son, stating that after his death the firm should pay the applicable amount of share and goodwill to his Son.
Query:-
1. is it necessary to prepare a will for the above mentioned purpose or clause mentioned in partnership deed alone is enough.
2. the firms are located at Kolkata, but the legal heir resides at Chennai, hence the will (if it is to be prepared) should be registered at Chennai or at Kolkata.

In the will the person can assign the beneficiary of the two partnership firms as the firms will dissolve after the death of the partner.
will can be registered at place of execution.

where is the testator residing ?he can regsiter the will at nearest sub registrar office

Will can be registered at Kolkata. The partnership would come to an end after death of any partner. Agreement with other partners of firms can be done that son would be entered as a partner in the firms on his death.

The Will can be registered in Kolkata and you can bequeath your share and benefits accrued through the partnership to the beneficiary you choose.
