i am confused with answers received.
further,as a layman,i feel that one can fight a case at consumer courts within the frame work of consumer protection act only.anything beyond that doesnot comes under them.
as such a knowledge of consumer protection act and commonsense would be enough there.
i do agree that nothing would substitute the experience and knowledge of an experienced lawyer. It may all depend on the subject matter of the case.
Sill, i feel that the intention and purpose of the act was that anyone could represent his case at these forums with simple procedures.
awaiting comments from experts/seniors

I do agree with your opinion but you know that every respondent generally service provider engages lawyers to deal with their cases so it becomes necessary for a layman complainant to engage his counsel also so that he may compete with the lawyer of the opposite party. The basic intension was though to be contested by complainant himself.
