Is lok adalath beneficial to poor people?

(Querist) 31 October 2016 This query is : Resolved
Sir,
I have a doubt. I applied for Lok adalath for a dismissed case in lokayukta . I was planning to file appeal petition before high court ,at that time i came to know about lok adalath. So i thought it could save my precious years from wasting. Suppose

1.If the respondents are absent on the adalath day, what all reliefs can the petitioner gain in this adalath?

2.Will this adalath be a waste if respondents absent themselves?

3.What all proceedings can be taken against the respondents by the officials of lok adalath and what relief can be sought by the petitioner in that case?

please reply

The matter, from the facts, is beyond the purview of the Lok Adalat.

Moreover, you are confused as to Lok Adalat and Lok Ayukta. They are different institutions.

Lok adalath is a waste, because if any one parties refused to accept or be absent the petition filed is dismissed without further procedures. I experienced myself.

Dear Querist,
LOK ADALAT is forum for alternative dispute resolution by way of mediation between the affected parties and /or the Govt. .
In case the parties to the dispute do not agree to the conciliatory suggestion of the forum , the dispute stays unresolved. However, many a banking, insurance, family court matters are getting resolved in this forums thereby easing the pendency of cases in different courts.
