(Querist) 02 October 2017 This query is : Resolved
Sir,
I am going to complete 20 years of service in Railway. I am not in a mood to continue this any more. I want to know whether i can take vrs after 20 years of service and if so , how much benefit would i get.
Regards
Mukul

You can get weightage of 5 years in qualifying service to be added in to your total service for the purpose of pension/ gratuity, provided total qualifying service does not exceed 33 years and also the period should not go beyond normal age of retirement.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 03 October 2017
It is not merely 20 years of service rather the period of twenty years whould be

(i) regular service - ignoring ad-hoc/dailywages etc, if any
(ii) fully paid ignoring EOL (without MC) dies-non etc, if any

your pension will be

half of last pay drawn x 25/33

gratuity will be

(last pay + DA)*10

leave encashment

Agree with the expert Sudhir Kumar.

You can seek VRS if you have completed 20 years of qualifying service by giving three months' notice to the Appointing Authority . You will be entitled for 50% of the pay last drawn as pension. There will be no addition to qualifying service.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 03 October 2017
50% of basic pay will be available only if he completes 33 years service.

5 years weitage will be there in service if he has completed 20 years and VR is sanctioned.
