I am a 30yr old man and love a girl who is 27 yrs old. We love each other and would like to marry. What is the procedure for registering our marriage? Can you pls give me the details? Would you recommend any suitable lawyer in Mumbai to help us out regarding this?

I am a Punjabi boy and she is South Indian girl. Thank you very much for your reply. Please give as much information if you have. I would also like to tell you that my parents have agreed for the marriage, but her parents have not.

If your family is ready for marriage then why do not you arrange marriage wherein simple marriage at open place may be preferred like an ordinary marriage though girl side relatives may not take part therein.
Registration of marriage is otherwise very simple process. You both have to produce age certificates, residential certificates, 2 photographs each, 2 photos taken at the time of marriage, 2 witnesses each, one affidavit each and a joint application to be moved before registrar of marriages wherein marriage takes place who after simple enquiry shall register marriage and shall issue due certificate.

She is from Kerala, a Mallu girl. Yes, I guess thats considered Hindu.

She has just spoken to her mom about our marriage. First her mom had agreed, but later on she refused. And she has to talk to her dad about our marriage. She and her mom are very scared of her dad's reaction to this. His reaction can be like stopping her to go to her office and stop all conversations by all means. That is the reason we are considering doing a court marriage before she could tell her dad about this. Is this correct whatever we have planned?

Get married and face the repercussions later, which won't be much.
And what is this - I GUESS she is Hindu. Ask her, in Kerala even the Christians has the same rituals as Hindus.
