Dear Experts,
can you please advise me on the rent terms. rent increase normally happens after 11 months or from the tenth month.
I came in the month of october 2013 and november 1st i will be vacating. the landlord is asking to pay the hike in the rent from the month of august. how does this work kindly advise me on this.

Normally the rent increase happens after an year, not at the end of 10 months or 8 months etc.
But, when you have 11 months tenancy, which started from October 2013, it would have come to end by 31.8.2014.
Therefore when you are in tenancy for Sept. 2014 it is beyond the initial 11 months, and perhaps there the landlord wants to say that the renewal is on increased rental basis and not on old rent which he agreed in October 2013.
This seems to be the crux of the matter.
But, from October 2013, the first 11 months had ended on 31.8.2014. You are asking this query in 2015. It is not clear whether you got your tenancy renewed in September 2014, which would have expired on 31.7.2015. You have to come out with correct facts. (Or you might have made a mistake in stating it as October 2013, instead of 2014)
