Stopping of cheque

sir,
I issued a cheque to a institute on 7/7/12 @ 5 pm, for amount 16854 this institute takes classes to prepare for compettive exams.I attended the class for 7th and 8th july(sunday).I was not satisfied with the method of teaching , so i decided to block the cheque immediatly on monday morning. I also sent a letter to that institute informing about my decision to stop the cheque and not join the institute. is it possible for the institute to prosecute me under section 138 of ni act? also please tell me what legal protections can i take? I have not cancelled the cheque with any mallacious motive, because since i am not paying money, i will also not attend their classes.

prima facie there shall not be any trouble to you.
in case you receive any notice from the other party then approach some local lawyer for proper reply.
