How to find the historical facts and records about a historical structure.

Recently , I have come to know that my great grandfather was the zamindar of Kota Maharaj, before the abolition of zamindari system. As there was no one in the family to claim or look after the ancestral property, it went unclaimed . I had some visits to my ancestral place and the ruins are there with some encroachments...As I have no documental proof about the propriety of structures there, all I need to know where i could get any record wherein it could establish that my great grandfather built that structures and it used to be our thikana, I have no intention to get any land or property , just I want to regain the prestige of the family and renovate the temple of our kuldevi..I am not disclosing the location and the names for the sake of confidentiality.....

Dear Querist
first of all you should contact in your Grand Father's residencial area and enquire about him, if you want to know about the property of your GF then you can contact to local Sub-registrar office or SDM/Tahsildar Office.
