Depends upon police report on verification of character and antecedents prior to joining the service, as based on the information provided by you on the attestation form required to be filled up as a part of selection process.

Agree with the views of expert PS Dhingra ji and P.Venu ji. All depends upon police verification report.

I will strongly disagree with view of Mr P Venu. Such accused is least likely to be allowed to join.
regarding informing employer he has no choice while filling 5 paged attestation form in 4 copies, before being offered to join, he has to state details pending criminal cases and the form is referred to each police station where he resided for the past 5 years and also in the police station of permanent address.
even if one is in service he is required to maintain "absolute integrity" even in private life. If a matter such matter against Govt servant is reported to deptt he is liable for disciplinary action in addition (or without) criminal case.
