Is NPA( Non Practicing Allowance) paid to Veterinary doctors is part of salary for the calculation of income tax .

It is totally taxable as it substitutes private practice which can become part of the income.

under Indian Income tax act,all allowances what so ever named and how so ever named are fully taxable/partially taxable / taxable fully beyond a certain amount .But reimbursement of expenses INCURRED FOR OFFICIAL PURPOSES ARE EXEMPT from tax.non practicing allowance falls under fully taxable category.
