A case is pending with District Consumer Forum. One of the Central Government officer has filed proof affidavit in English on behalf of opposite party. When crossing, it becomes known that the said officer knew only English & Hindi. I don't know Hindi and as the questions are very minute, I would like to cross examine him only in my mother tongue i.e. Tamil. There is no official translator in the Forum. What is the rule governing the language to be followed in Consumer Protection Act or any other instructions available in the Civil Procedure Code.
Please clarify.

While taking cross you have to put questions in the language which he understood.

Then take the help of the Forum who may translate .
However in consumer forum cross examination is made in questionnaire form only and English is the only official language allowed.
Being an advocate you are supposed to know English if not Hindi.

In tamil nadu the official language of the Consumer court is English and tamil.
You can request the Forum to give assitance of the translator.

Agree with the expert Devajyoti Barman ji, the cross in consumer forum is generally in question answer form and the language is generally English for it.
