Sir, I am working as Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) in southern railway stores deparment. I would like to know the time limit for submission of traveling allowance claim in Indian railways. Extant procedure of within 90 days from the date of commencement of on duty journey is correct or not. R. Murali / Chennai.

Generally it is within 3 months of completion of journey, however, find out from the Railway Act.

Not a legal problem. However, it all depends upon whether the journey is on tour or transfer and also whether TA advance is involved or not, which you have not mentioned. Moreover, being a railway employee, you could well have checked with the TA rules of your railways organisation.

Administrative matter. Look into administrative circulars/instructions of Indian Railways or seek advice of seniors.

You can better clarify such administrative issues from your pay and accounts department directly instead of taking a long route. Your department people will be the better guides in this aspect instead of approaching this forum.
