We resided in tenanted property since 45 years where my mother in law was tenant. since then we all moved out, Only my husbands deceased brother's wife with her daughter stayed with her. My mother in law expired recently in 2011. Our old landlord has sold entire property to new owner. The new owner is trying several pretexts to evacuate us without paying us anything. He even caused damage to property so that the building collapses. The previous landlord had not transferred the tenancy rights in my sister in laws name though all legal heirs have given their NOCs. Will the tenancy rights be extinguished. Please help as they are very poor and dont have any alternate place to stay

HI
Not sure why the new landlord should pay money for vacating the tenant.
the tenant is under obligation to vacate or pay the market rates of rental prevailing to new owner. You should instead find an alternative place for your sister in laws so as to avoid trouble.

Thanks for the prompt revert but our house is in excellent habitable condition and the above floors are in dilapidated condition as (its ground+2) which was earlier occupied by the previous landlord. The new owner wishes to demolish the current structure and build classes for himself. If he intends to redevelop shouldnt he give us alternate accomodation till the construction of new building is done. He intends to usurp our tenancy rights at that behest that my mother in law is no more and her daughter in law cannot be deemed tenant inspite of her staying there through out her married life

Consult local lawyer and show him all the documents.
