property inherited by widow mother whether ancestral.

Sir
I inherited property from father after death, along with our mother .whether this should be called as ancestral for mother if not whatshould it be called?.property was self acquired by father.whether for me as son this is ancestral and we can sell the same though we have our children too.can our children object to sale..in any way

Sir,
It has been through mutation in records by authorities after death of my father along wth my brother, our father had purchased that property with help of his income and also with help of income of pre existing joint family ancestral land which my father got from his father l.e my dada.no partition has yet been made it is still in joint names.it is feared that she may relinquish in name of co heir of her choice excluding me. Without partition .
