Maintenance of records under the factories act

We have engaged lot of contract labour and all the records are being maintained under the provisions of the contractor labour act. the factory inspector / chief inspector of factories are insisting upon to maintain the records as per factories act that means duplication of of work.

How to handle it?

If your establishment is a manufacturing company, then only factories act is applicable. What is the nature of business of your establishment.

It is mechanical construction company and there are lot of CONTRACTOR workers are engaged. All the records are maintained as per CLRA ACT. He is insisting to maintain as per factories act.

@Author, as per factories Act, most of the records have to be maintained for three (3) years from the date of last entry made in the register. In general, some records are permanent. however consult a lawyer who have knowledge in labour cases of your area.

The factories act is applicable if The industries in which ten (10) or more than ten workers are employed on any day of the preceading twelve months and are engaged in manufacturing process being carried out with the aid of power or twenty or more than twenty workers are employed in manufacturing process being carried out without the aid of power.

We have engaged 4-5 CONTRACTORs who engaged workers and each CONTRACTOR engages app 100 workers. CONTRACTORs are maintaining all records as per CLRA ACT. Factory Inspector insisting to maintain record as per factories act like attendance register, leave book, leave register, ot slips, pay roll etc.
