Chs is charging 2% penalty per month for the delayed payment

Respected Experts,

Greetings!

Our Society maintenance bill showing that penalty at the rate of 2%per month will be levied for the delay in settlement of the Bill.

Even for the delay of few days they are claiming amount for entire quarter (90 days) at the rate of 2% per month for the entire amount of bill.

Does the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act permits 2% per month.

Can you please help with guidance.

If there is any law related to this and approved.

pls go through the bye laws/MOA, resolution of society, if penalty @ 2% is mentioned here then they can charge and if not then they can't.
