Hi,
Muslim family - in a father's property, what will be the share/proportion of 9 children (5 daughters & 4 sons)? wherein both the parents are not alive.
Secondly, In case of any of the above daughter's demise, can her husband or her children claim her share from father-in-law's/grand father's property?
Pls advice.

All children are entitled to equal share.
The children of pre-deceased sister would get her share, though her husband would not get anything in the same.

Dear Nadira,
I differ with Ld.Shonee and Nadeem, daughters and sons inherit as residuaries, and daughters take half the share of sons. In present geneaology daughters take 1/13th each and sons 2/13th each.
With respect to second part of your query - I opine that there is no representation in Islam - if the daughter predeceases her father (with children) and there are other daughters/sons present. the children of precdeceased daughter don't get to inherit thing for the reason in Islamic Inheritance Law - children don't represent their parents & nearer excludes the farer.
Feel free to talk !
