Dear Sir,
One of my friend has received faulty electricity bill 2 times within a period of 6 months. Wherein bills amount were 50 to 100 times higher than the actual usage. And at electricity office they asks money for the correcton of bill. If again he receives such defective bill than what legal action that a victim can take against electricity department?
Please advice me.

You can approach District Consumer Redressal Fourm for your grievances.

complain to service provider in writing about defective electricity bills . request that your meter be checked .

electricity pele generaly have standard reply that first pay the bill and then we will resolve and adjust n next bill.
Your case appears to be much more than ordinary excess billing matter.
You told that you are being asked to pay money so that is why as I asked :-
is it govt electricity company or privatised.

You can file complaint with the consumer forum. Most of the state electricity boards have separate system for electricity bill disputes, confirm in case of your state.
Can move for stay against disconnection or taking other steps for recovery during pendency of complaint.

if bribe is being demanded then approach state vigilance bureau and get them trapped.
