Transfer of property to wife

I recently purchased an apartment and got it registered in my name. The said property is in UP. Can I "gift" the property to my wife? will I have to pay stamp-duty & registration charges again?

You can very well gift the properly to your wife but you have to pay the stamp duty and registration charges.Better execute a will deed in favour of your wife which shall come in effect after your death.

You can gift it to your wife. Stamp duty etc. is payable as per state rules.

I got my query answered. But in continuation, I seek your guidance on how to transfer property to my wife, while I'm alive, and save on tax/stamp duty.
