An agreement can be executed by two or more parties competent to contract, by their free consent, for a lawful consideration and with a lawful object, and which is not expressly declared to be void. However, if any provision of law provides for and agreement to be made in writing or in the presence of witnesses, or any law relating to the registration of documents, then an agreement has to be in accordance therewith.
Registration before Registrar is optional unless any provision of law makes compulsory registration of any particular type of agreement.
