Discharge of a legal case

Sir,i would like to have the confusion in regard to the following queries in a discharged case:
1.Lone person accused in a case(sessions court trial)discharged on the ground of insufficient evidence put forward in a police report.The olice ad registered a case and conducted investigaions.No charges framed.So,in a discharged case can police further investigate under sec 173(8) crpc.If yes what's the procedure as lone accused has been released also and no charges framed.
2.where to appeal or revision petition and time frame for it.
