Yes, you can contract debt not joint but it would our shirt that would be sold in realization.so be happy and plan .

You can create equitable mortgage in respect of your share in the joint property to obtain any loan and the creditor specially the Bank may initiate proceeding to attach the same to recover the dues from you.
