I have requested the society to provide the copy of conveyance and they have refuased.I would like to know if I can request the society to provide the copy of conveyance under the Right to Information Act.
What is the process to request a document under the right to information act?
Please guide.

As already advised to you at www.lawexpertsindia.com, a society is not a public authority so RTI Act is not applicable thereon but the registrar of societies from where such society has been registered, do come within its perview hence your application should be moved there and it is also duty bound to collect the desired information from the society and provide it to you within the stipulated time failing which you may file an appeal against the registrar.

Dear Mr. Gavin,

The Society is not a competent authority to issue any conveyance copy to any one. Hence it is advisable to obtain copy from jurisdictional sub registrar office.
