I have a libel case to file, seeking damages to the extent of Rs 30 crore. Is there anyway I can seek exemption from the court from the requirement of depositing a percentage of this - is it 10 per cent? - as my present financial situation does not permit me to pay any high court fee.
The person against whom I propose to file this suit, upon receiving notice from me, has threatened that I must withdraw my notice otherwise he would file a case against me that I am blackmailing him. Whereas I have all the evidence to prove my case, he has nothing as it is not true that I have blackmailed him.
Further questions from any counsel, if any, may please be mailed to durgi1020@rediffmail.com. I don't want to attract any undue attention of this person who may harm me.

In some States there is no provision to pay courtfees for the defamation case. See West bengal court fees and suit valuation act.

In some states there no provision of courtfees for defamation cases. So it is advised to consult the concerned state for court fees.
